Tucked just a few blocks from Parque Central, Ojala Hotel in Antigua is a minimalist-meets-garden dream. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay after exploring Antigua’s cobblestone streets—or hiking the Acatenango volcano—Ojala creates the perfect space to unwind.
We stayed here for three nights and loved the lush courtyard vibes and the relaxing atmosphere. But it wasn’t all perfect—more on that in a moment. Here’s my full Ojalá Hotel review, with everything to know before you book.
Overview: Ojala Hotel
Ojala Hotel is settled in downtown Antigua, Guatemala, just a short walk from everything: coffee shops, rooftop bars, local markets, and the iconic yellow Santa Catalina Arch. Despite being central, the hotel itself is quiet and calm, with well-kept gardens, breezy hammocks, and an earthy design.
The lush greenery and soft neutral palette make it incredibly aesthetic—definitely one of the most Instagrammable hotels in Antigua. It’s especially ideal for couples or solo travelers looking for a peaceful base.
Location: Central & Walkable
Location is one of Ojala’s biggest strengths. It’s only three blocks from the main plaza, so you’re perfectly positioned to explore Antigua on foot. You’ll find endless cafes and boutique shops within minutes.
While the surrounding area is lively during the day, the Ojalá Hotel itself feels like a calm retreat. If you head up to the rooftop or upper terrace, you’ll be rewarded with views of the Agua and Fuego volcanoes—especially beautiful at sunrise or golden hour.
Room Options at Ojala Hotel

Here’s the honest part of this Ojala Hotel Antigua review: they overbooked our King Room with Volcano View and placed us in a first-floor Queen Room instead. The room itself was lovely—clean and cozy—but coming back to a smaller room with no view after hiking Acatenango was definitely disappointing.
That said, the rooms here are minimal but thoughtfully designed. You won’t find fancy extras, but the beds are comfortable, the space is clean, and the garden views from the windows are beautiful. Like most Antigua hotels, rooms can feel a bit warm in the afternoon, but opening the windows creates a nice breeze.
Room options include:
• Shared hostel-style dorms (4-bed or 8-bed dorms)
• Private Queen rooms
• Two Private King rooms
Facilities at Ojala Hotel
Ojala Hotel keeps things simple but functional. One of the best perks for hikers is their secure luggage room with cameras—perfect if you’re storing a suitcase during your overnight Acatenango trek.
Other standout features:
• WiFi worked well
• Ample seating areas in the garden and around the property, including hammocks and cozy reading nooks
Food & Drinks Options

Ojala Hotel hosts an onsite cafe which offers fresh, specialty coffees in the morning.
Room bookings also include a free breakfast with three options:
• Fruit and granola bowl
• Scrambled eggs with tortillas and frijoles
• Banana pancakes
All were simple but fresh and flavorful. Later in the day, the café transitions into a relaxed spot to grab a cocktail, beer, or glass of wine. Bonus: free filtered water is available 24/7, which was helpful.
Atmosphere: Relaxing & Aesthetic

What I loved most about this hotel was the calm, romantic vibe. The central garden is filled with tropical greenery, well-kept stone paths, and soft lighting in the evening. Whether you’re sipping your coffee or swinging in a hammock, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and stay a while.
Who This Hotel is Best For
Ojalá Hotel is perfect for:
• Couples on a romantic getaway
• Solo travelers looking for peace and design-forward surroundings
• Digital nomads who want quiet spaces to work (the Wi-Fi held up well!)
I wouldn’t recommend it for families—there’s not much space for kids to roam or play.
Final Verdict: Would I Stay at Ojala Hotel Again?
Yes—I would stay at the Ojala Hotel again, especially now that I know to double-confirm the room type before arrival. The thoughtful design, peaceful gardens, and prime location made it a standout during our time in Antigua.
If you’re deciding where to stay in Antigua and want something stylish, relaxing, and affordable, I hope this Ojalá Hotel review helps you feel confident in booking.
