The Food + Drinks

FAIRVIEW BAR AND RESTAURANT
The Fairview Bar and Restaurant is located on the bottom floor of the Fairmont with huge windows facing Lake Louise. The views from the Fairview at any time of day are unparalleled. The menu has something for everyone, including gluten free and vegetarian options, as well as a variety of fun, unique cocktails.
WALLISER STUBE
Walliser Stube has a European style atmosphere to complement the Swiss inspired menu. I highly recommend choosing the Chateau Experiences menu paired with the Premium Wine Tasting.
Louiza
Louiza is the Fairmont’s newest Mediterranean style restaurant, open for breakfast every day and dinner Tuesday – Saturday. The dinner at Louiza is impressive, with a menu full of bright flavors, extending to their signature cocktails which are a must!
Alpine Social
The Fairmont’s Alpine Social has an upbeat, welcoming atmosphere with knowledgeable bartenders and an expansive whiskey selection. Alpine Social is the perfect place to grab a casual dinner or after dinner drinks with a group of friends.
Lakeview Lounge
The Lakeview Lounge is the best spot at the Fairmont to enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sunrise over Mount Victoria, reflecting the mountain off of the turquoise water or frozen ice. On the weekends, you can visit the Lakeview Lounge for a nightcap from their extensive cocktail menu, or opt to finish the night with dessert!
Guide’s Pantry
Open 24 hours a day, the Guide’s Pantry is the perfect spot to start your day with a coffee and end with a late night snack. We found the Guide’s Pantry to be the easiest spot for breakfast and coffees at the Fairmont, with no lines or wait for your food. If you’re planning to spend the day skiing or exploring a longer hike, the Guide’s Pantry also has a variety of options for food to go.
Ice Bar
If you visit the Fairmont Chateau in the winter, you’ll have the opportunity to visit their outdoor ice bar! Guess can enjoy cocktails in the fresh air with a view of the snow covered mountains and frozen Lake Louise. I recommend ordering the mulled wine (glühwein), which is the perfect way to warm up after exploring the Lakeshore Trail.

Lake Louise
When people think of Banff National Park, they think of the turquoise waters of Lake Louise. The turquoise color of Lake Louise is created by glacial melts from the Victoria Glacier, which is visible directly behind the lake. Visitors to Lake Louise can explore the glacier in depth by following the Plain of Six Glaciers hike to the Abbot Pass Viewpoint. If you’re heading on this trail, be sure to stop at the tea house on the way!
In the winter months when Lake Louise is frozen, the Fairmont Chateau turns the lake into an ice skating rink, complete with a sculpted Ice Castle. In the summer, visitors at Lake Louise can canoe the blue waters and explore the Rockies from a unique viewpoint. The Fairmont also hosts wellness retreats and outdoor fitness classes which allow guests an immersive Lake Louise experience.
Things To Do at the Fairmont Chateau
The Fairmont Chateau offers a variety of distinctive and special activities for guests.
The best way to explore Lake Louise is through the Fairmont’s Lakeshore Trail, which is open year round. For visitors wanting to explore the area in depth, there are several trails that continue from the Lakeshore Trail. Some of the most popular trails include exploring Mount Victoria, the Victoria Glacier, and the frozen boathouse.
In the winter, the Fairmont Chateau offers horse drawn sleigh rides around Lake Louise, allowing you to explore the snow-capped mountains and frozen ice falls. Guests can also borrow ice skates from the resort to skate or play ice hockey on the frozen Lake Louise. Another main winter attraction is the Lake Louise Ski Resort, known for their world-class skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Whether you planned a ski trip to Lake Louise, or are just visiting for a winter wonderland vacation, the Lake Louise Ski Resort is one of the biggest attractions in the area and is definitely worth exploring. If you’re not a skier or snowboarder, the resort offers snowtubing, snowshoeing tours, and gondola rides to the top of the mountain, providing activities for everyone to explore Lake Louise.

One of the best ways to explore Lake Louise in the summer is by canoeing or kayaking the turquoise lake. The Fairmont Chateau offers another perspective through their horseback riding tours, which take you through the mountains and provide unparalleled views of Banff National Park. For guests looking for something more adventurous, I recommend checking out the nearby cave tours or whitewater rafting through the Kicking Horse River, Horseshoe Canyon, or the Kananaskis River. If you’re looking for a more relaxing activity, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise offers several wellness activities for guests.
